				   The third �Carols In the City� concert, organised by the Lisburn 
				City Centre Ministers� Fellowship was held in the Lagan Valley 
				Island on Wednesday 14th December 2005. 
				  Garvey Silver Band led 
				the singing of well-known Christmas Carols - �Once in Royal 
				David City�, �Still the Night� and �O Come all ye faithful�. 
				Brownlee Primary School Choir sang: �The Gift�, Jingle Bell 
				Rock�, �Child in a Manger�, and �Winter Wonderland�. The choir 
				was conducted by Mr Colin Elliott and accompanied by Mrs Laura 
				Chestnutt on piano. The soloists were Hannah McMillen, Daniel 
				McCreedy Arnold, Conor Magee, Rebecca McKinnon and Steven

				St. Aloysius Primary School Choir sang: �Unto Us A Child Is 
				Born�, �In The Stillness of the Night� and �Love Shone Down�. 
				The conductor was Una Tracey and the soloists were Christopher 
				Romano, Megan Stewart, Kate Tracey and Amy Syzmura 
				Friends School Choir sang: �Immanuel�, �Away in a manger�, 
				�Pacem� and �Glorious Light�. The choir was conducted by 
				Rosemary Deboys and accompanied by Susie Ashcroft on piano and 
				Corinna Hoel - Flute. The soloist was Joanna Hyndman.  
				A Folk Group from St. Patrick�s Church led by Geraldine 
				Clenaghan sang: �Hallelujah�, �Saviour of the world� and �The

				Sara Blakey, a member of the Lisburn Young Adult�s Group, 
				assisted by Lorraine Foster - Co-ordinator said a Christmas 
				Prayer; prayers for our community and our world were led by, 
				Hazel McCall � Lisburn Organiser for Christian Aid and a portion 
				of Scripture was read by given by Marilyn McKee - Lisburn 
				Christian Fellowship. 
				
				 The guest speaker was Dr. Ken Newell, former Moderator of the 
				General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. In his 
				address entitled, �What happens to us when Christmas comes to 
				town�, Dr. Newell spoke about �Renewing your friendship with 
				God�, �Embracing a spirit of friends without fences�, and 
				�Transforming Lisburn into a city of friends�. 
				
				 David Honeyford and Allister Cummings were in charge of the 
				sound audio-visual equipment. Proceeds from the concert will be 
				donated to Christian Aid and Lisburn Inter-Church Sunday School 
				and Young Adults Group. While most people know about the work of 
				Christian Aid, perhaps not so many know about the Lisburn 
				Inter-Church Sunday School and Young Adults Group. They meet 
				each Sunday afternoon in Harmony Hill Church, the Co-ordinator 
				is Lorraine Foster and the teachers are 
				
				 Heather Knox, Maureen Clynes and Pamela McElhinney. Their aims are to give children 
				and young adults with learning disabilities an opportunity to 
				praise and worship God in a simple and joyful manner and to 
				provide young adults with a severe learning disability the 
				opportunity to participate in Bible Study and Praise at a more 
				advanced level. 
				The concert was well attended and a great success. Una 
				Tracey, a spokesperson for St. Aloysius Primary School said, �It 
				was an amazing experience for the children, we all thoroughly 
				enjoyed it�.
