Iona Community Project to begin its autumn season

WITH the start of the new season, IONA Community Project, the social outreach of St Columba's Church, will begin its autumn programme next week.

A spokeswoman said the project offered groups and activities for all ages and abilities.

"Anyone who comes along will be made very welcome," she stated.

"Indoor activities take place in St Columba's Church Halls and anyone seeking further details on any of the groups should telephone 9260 4319."

The new programme is as follows:
� Men's Group - meets on Mondays at 10.00am to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat, as well as activities including computer training, bowling and health related activities. Outings are also arranged on a regular basis. The group is open to men of all ages. Starts Monday (September 5).

� Parent and Toddler Group - every Tuesday morning from 10.30am�12.00 noon. It is open to children and their carers. Tea and coffee are provided for the parents, toast and juice for the children. Starts Tuesday (September 6).

� St Columba's Bowling Club for men and women of all ages - every Tuesday 8.00pm-10.30pm. Starts Tuesday September 13.

� Afternoon Club for the over 60'S - meets fortnightly on Wednesdays from 2.30pm -4.00pm offering a variety of activities and speakers and time for a cup of
tea and a chat. Lifts are available for those who would like to come but need transport. Starts Wednesda (September 7).

� Craft Group - meets on alternate Wednesday afternoons from 2.30pm - 4.00pm. The group is aimed a those who want to come along and share their craft skills with others, as well as enjoying a cup of tea and chat.
Starts Wednesday September 14.

� Basic Computer Training - for all ages, held ever Thursday morning from 10.00am - 12.00noon. Start Thursday September 15.

� Badminton Club - every Thursday from 8.00pm-9.30pm. It is open to men and women of all age: Starts Thursday September 15.

� Families 2gether - (formerly Bright Eyes) offers variety of activities for the parents, and a free crechfor children. Activities include cooking and healthy eating, stress management and relaxation, play, basic first aid and much more. This will hopefully begin later in the autumn and details will appear in the local press.

� Rambling Club - first Saturday of each month with walks arranged at various venues. Walks vary in the level of fitness required but some walks are suitable for all abilities and ages. Transport is available. Walks start on Saturday October 1.

� Youth Drop-In - this is for young people from P6 to Third Year. The Drop-In is a comfortable and safe environment where young people can meet together on a Saturday night at 7.30pm in the church hall to take part in various craft activities, sports and games. Access to internet connected computers is available. This will start during September.
