At a service in
Lisburn Cathedral on Sunday morning 23rd October
2005, the Rev. Canon Sam Wright recalled a busy week of
Christian outreach at the church. React 2005 was held from
Saturday 15th to Sunday 23rd October and
the varied programme included: Prayer, Family worship, Healing
Service, coffee mornings in various homes, city centre lunches,
salsa night, ladies Bible Study, 5-a-side football tournament,
card making, beauty morning, KidZone and a family visit to the
cinema. At each event a short presentation of the Gospel message
was given. Many were challenged by this and responded to what
was said.
The week got off
to a great start on Saturday 15th with a Family Fun
Day held from 11am to 2pm and the React programme continued on
Saturday evening with Club Fusion. A Praise Service last Sunday
evening brought a very successful week of outreach, fun and
Christian fellowship to a conclusion.
The programme,
which had the full support of the congregation, was organised by
a Steering Group made up church members and the Cathedral staff.
They were assisted by Roger Murphy - Mission Leader, a gifted
evangelist from Warwick; the Rev. Paul Hoey from Enniskillen who
has spent the last two years working for the Church Pastoral Aid
Society (CPAS) and Paul Woodman - a full-time leader in City
Life Church, Southampton who presents the Christian message
using street theatre.
