Event To Take Place At Kingdom Life Centre
THE Kingdom Life Faith Centre in Graham
Gardens will be the venue for a public meeting tomorrow morning
(Saturday) at 10.00am at which the need to reach out to young
people in the city will be discussed.
Local church leaders have recently spent
Saturday evenings in Belfast City Centre witnessing at first
hand how youth leaders are reaching out to young people in the
area.
A spokesperson said they have been very
impressed with this `tremendous Christian Outreach' and want to
unite parents, grandparents, volunteers, and youth leaders from
all Lisburn's churches in a similar cross community effort to
tackle youth issues.
He referred to recently published statistics
which showed 73% of 15 year olds take alcohol, 36% take drugs,
32% are sexually active, and 25% of girls have contemplated or
attempted suicide.
Issues
"These are just some of the many issues that
face young people today, so, if you have a passion to tackle
these youth issues and reach out to the young people of Lisburn,
please attend this meeting," he continued.
"Just an hour of your time will make a
difference - by being there you give others permission to get
involved and together we can help make Lisburn a better
community and a safer place for everyone.
Your voice will be heard. During the meeting,
representatives from local Churches, P.S.N.I., Lisburn City
Council, Schools and Youth Groups will discuss practical schemes
used in other towns and cities in the UK and develop a proposed
strategy to reach out to the young people of Lisburn."
