Capella the Wallace High School Chamber Choir and choirs
from Christ Church Parish, Lisburn and Dromore Cathedral
provided a great night of festive praise at an Advent Carol
Service in Christ Church Parish, Lisburn on Sunday evening 3rd
December. The choirs were conducted by David Falconer -
Dromore Cathedral organist (and Head of Music at Wallace High
School) and were accompanied on organ by Richard Yarr - Director
of Music (Christ Church) and Catherine Keenan and the South
Ulster Brass Ensemble. The choir anthems were: Matin
Responsary, Adam lay y bounden, The truth from above, Nativity
Carol, O Holy Night and Drop down ye heavens. The
congregational praise included O come O come Emmanuel and O
come all ye faithful.
The Rev Paul Dundas, Rector of Christ Church, led the service
and Valerie McConnell - Simon Community and a representative from
each choir, read the Bible readings. In an advent thought,
the Dean of Dromore, the Rev Stephen Lowry spoke about the
importance of taking Christ into our thoughts this Christmas and
ensuring that His love is in our lives and that He is reigning in
every day. The Dean concluded by bringing the greetings of
Dromore Cathedral.
The offering of 450 will be presented to the Simon Community
Hostel, Lisburn next week. Refreshments were served in the
Church Hall after the service.
