A special service was
held in Elmwood Presbyterian Church last Sunday morning to
celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the work and
witness at Elmwood. The service was conducted by the
Rev Robert Lockhart, first minister of the
congregation, who preached from Philippians chapter 3 on the
theme of �Pressing On�.
After the service over 150 people remained
behind for a light lunch, topped off with a piece of a
celebration cake, which was baked and decorated by Miss Noreen
Scott, a member of the congregation.

Rev Robert Lockhart
was installed as the first minister of Elmwood
Presbyterian Church on Sunday 2nd May 1976 and
conducted the first service of the new
congregation on Sunday 5th September 1976. The
church building was officially opened on 22nd January
1977.
The Rev Robert Lockhart retired in April
2003 and is now the Minister Emeritus in Elmwood and also
Pastoral Assistant at Railway Street Presbyterian Church,
Lisburn. He was succeeded by the present minister, the Rev
Andrew Thompson, who was installed on Monday 14th
June 2004.
