The Revd Diane Margaret Matchett, Curate in
Christ Church Parish, Lisburn, was ordained Priest at a Service
of Ordination in Lisburn Cathedral on Sunday
18th June. Also ordained at this service was: The
Revd Dr Robert Cotter - Mossley Parish; the Revd Andrew Ker -
Parish of Larne and Inver with Glynn and Raloo; and the Revd
Niall Sloane - Agherton Parish, Portstewart. The
Bishop of Connor, the Rt. Revd Alan E. T.
Harper gave the address and conducted the Act of Ordination.
The readers were - The Revd Paul Dundas, Revd N.
Cutcliffe, Revd Niall Sloane and Revd S. A.
Fielding.
Diane was
brought up on a small apple farm in the townland of Annaghmore
(near Portadown) with all kinds of animals such as goats, pigs
and a variety of poultry. Just a few minutes older that her
twin brother David, she is the eighth of a family of nine
children to parents Olive Matchett and the late William John
Matchett who died in 1994. Diane has five brothers and three
sisters - Ian, Brian, Christine, Michael, Pauline, Susanne, Paul
and younger twin brother David. Her early education was gained
at Tullyroan Primary School, a small country school with only 2
classrooms and 2 teachers and later at Clounagh Junior High. She
proceeded to Northumbria Bible
College in England graduating with a B.Th (Theology) in 1998;
and then to Trinity College Dublin, graduating with a B.A. Hons
(Theology) in 2005. Miss Matchett was ordained Deacon in St
Patrick�s, Ballymena on Sunday 26th June 2005. She
began her ministry in Christ Church Parish, Lisburn the
following Monday (27th June 2005) and now lives at
the Curatage, Woodland Park, off the Hillsborough Road,
Lisburn,
