Work on the re-roofing of Railway Street Presbyterian Church commenced on Thursday 27th July and after just eight weeks work, the job will be complete this weekend (Friday 22nd September).  While members of the congregation were not able to clamber onto the roof to assist with the work, they will be able to help by contributing towards the cost of the 4,570 slates used to do the job.  The churchs fundraising team provided the opportunity to donate 5 towards the cost of each slate at a Donate-a-Slate Coffee Morning held in the Minor Hall, Railway Street Presbyterian Church on Saturday 30th September from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon.

During the course of a busy Saturday morning shopping, many people popped in and enjoyed free scones and coffee making a donation towards as many slates as they wished and signed their name against the slates they have helped to put on the roof.

Over the next few months there will be further opportunities for church members to donate at coffee time following the morning services and the fundraising team is hoping that it wont be too long before there are names against all 4,570 slates.
