The Mayor - Councillor Trevor
Lunn and the Mayoress - Mrs Laureen Lunn were the special guests
at a Harvest Thanksgiving service in Glenavy Methodist Church
last Sunday evening (15th October). The minister, the Rev Leslie
Spence, gave the call to worship and welcomed the congregation
and his special guests, the Mayor, the Mayoress and the
Harlandic Male Voice Choir and their conductor John Lyttle. Mr
Spence thanked everyone who decorated the church so tastefully
and helped provide the harvest supper after the service.
Charlotte Moore, the Glenavy Methodist
organist, accompanied by Amy Lutton and Mark Ross on flute, led
the congregational praise. The hymns were, �We plough the fields
and scatter�, �To thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise�, and �Great
is they faithfulness�.

The Mayor read the Old Testament scripture
lesson and Mr Spence in his address spoke on the topic � The
fruit of Love�. The Harlandic Male Voice Choir sang, �With a
voice of singing�, �Come let us to the Lord our God�, �Remember
me O mighty one�, �Glorious things of thee are spoken�, �Walking
with God�, �When I survey the wondrous cross� and �I hear thy
welcome voice�.
The Mayor brought greetings and asked for
God�s blessing on the Methodist congregation at Glenavy. He
thanked the Rev Leslie Spence for his welcome and spoke about
the need to welcome and embrace ethnic minorities now coming to
work and live in Northern Ireland emphasising that Lisburn as a
City has to mean something.

who was the organist who played at �The Organist
Entertains� last Monday night (16th October).
The Rev James Lemon was the guest speaker
at the Sunday morning harvest service at Glenavy Methodist. The
harvest celebrations concluded last Monday evening with a
concert entitled �The Organist Entertains� featuring classic,
pop and religious music with guest organist Mark Ireland from
Devon.
