Julie Spence
reports
Sonicflood, Yfriday, Brian Houston, Johnny Parks Band
and Lisburns Band of Brothers will take the Moira stage
MOIRA Demesne will be resounding to the sound of Christian
worship on Saturday June 17 when a very special gig for young
people takes over the local venue.
The Christian rock/worship concert, organised by Megalife and
supported by Youth for Christ, will include YFC's very popular 'Manafest'
and is expected to draw thousands of people to the village.
The event runs from 12noon until 10pm and is free to
everyone.
As well as music there will be a gospel message throughout
with facilities for prayer, seeking and reflection.
Organiser Wilson Archer says he is sure the event will be a
huge success.
"There has been response from all over Ireland and as far
away as Croatia and Holland," he said. "Both Christians and non
- Christians have expressed their intention to come to the gig
and we expect people to be arriving throughout the day,
culminating in a large crowd for the two big acts in the
evening, Yfriday and Sonicflood."
The day starts with Band of Brothers from
Lisburn followed by Titus and Supervision, both rock bands for
God from England.
Brian Houston and Johnny Parks are on next
with Brian bringing his own unique style and passion and Johnny
being one of he top worship leaders in the UK.
After tea everyone can take part in Manafest
with Bluetree and Axiom and enjoy the chance to hear Australian
YFC UK speaker, Paul Flavell. There will be a large LCD screen
for visuals with the stage coming from England and top
professional sound system from Production House, Belfast.
"This whole venture is a step of faith for
myself, having never attempted this before, but when God gives
you something to do, then you must," explained Wilson.
"This event has grown way beyond what I ever
imagined and is God's event. It is youth focused but open to
all, with the aim of seeing people finding new life and the
truth which is in and is Jesus.
"All facilities including toilets and
catering will be on site," he continued. "It is not a
denominational event in that all major churches in Moira are
involved in some way in assisting with the running of this
event. It's for God's people to stand together under one master.
We also have DJs from Cool FM and U105 as MCs for the day," he
added.
