The Rev Simon Richardson is the new curate
at Hillsborough Parish Church where he will assist the Rector,
the Very Rev John Dinnen - Dean of Down. He replaces the Rev
William Nixon who left last April and now has pastoral oversight
of a newly formed congregation in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Mr Richardson, from Folkstone in Kent, is a
former member of St John�s, Folkestone. He was educated at St
John�s College, Durham where he graduated with a BA (Hons) in
Theology in 1996. He trained for the ministry at Wycliffe Hall,
Oxford, being awarded a PGDip in Applied Theology in 2003, and
an MA in Ministry from Canterbury Christ Church University in
2006.
He was Ordained as Deacon in Canterbury
Cathedral in 2003 and served in the Trinity Benefice,
Folkestone, Diocese of Canterbury (2003-2006). During his
ministry in Trinity Benefice he was Ordained Priest in 2004 by
Dr Rowan Williams. He was appointed curate of the Parish Church
of St Malachy, Hillsborough on Sunday 3rd September.
Simon is married to Myra and they have two
children Erin (age 6) and Patrick (age 3). He lists as his
interests music (playing the piano and organ, and listening to
music), reading anything he can lay his hands on, cooking, and
spending time with people.
