TWENTY-EIGHT young people enjoyed an action
packed week at The Salvation Army Holiday club in Rushmore drive
last week.
The Church hall was transformed to look like
Narnia with the children entering through wardrobe doors; snow
covered trees, and even a lamppost in the corner.
Craft sessions provided even more decorations
as the week progressed with the young people making sweets,
snowflakes and some rather scary lion masks.
The week concluded with a special service on
Sunday morning at which some of the parents attended and the
young people got a chance to show the new dramas and songs they
had learnt.
"It's been a really busy week," explained
Captain John McLean, minister at H2O Lisburn Salvation Army.
RELATE
"I think the kids have really enjoyed so many
different activities and they have been able to relate the daily
bible stories to every day life situations by using examples and
scenes from Narnia.
"My wife Kat and I have had as much fun as
the young people and its been lovely to get to know them and
build friendships which we hope will continue to grow through
our winter activity programme."
The Youth Club takes place every Friday
evening at the Salvation Army Hall, primary school ages meet
from 5.30pm to 7.00pm while secondary school ages meet from
7.30pm to 10.00pm. Family friendly informal worship takes place
at the hall on Sundays at 11am.
