Members of Railway Street Presbyterian Church's 422 group
enjoyed a jam-packed variety of songs and other items performed
by Brownlee Primary School Choir last Thursday afternoon (24th
May). Heather Henry, a member of Railway Street congregation and
also a member of the Board of Governors of Brownlee Primary
School welcomed the pupils and their teachers.
Rachel Allen introduced the programme and Taylor Muir, Andrew
McCluggage, Jack Griffin and Jordan Watts gave a most
informative history of the School and its association with
Railway Street Presbyterian Church. They explained that under
the will of Miss Isabella Brownlee (the last of a much-respected
family that had been connected with the congregation from the
start) and with the assistance of the National Board of
Education, it made possible the erection of the Brownlee
Memorial School and a Teacher's Residence opened in 1913.
Courtney Ross, Eden Ferguson, Jordan Braddock and Holly Rydout
started the show with a tap-dancing routine to the tune Razzle
Dazzle after which a flautist quartet - Jay Burgin, Courtney
Kennedy-Browning, Natasha Bruce and Lucy Evans - played a
selection of tunes. Haley Steele narrated a story entitled
'First Day at School', Lee Maxwell and Scott Kincaid told a
selection of jokes and Rhianne Fletcher performed some Irish
dancing. The choir, conducted by Mrs Helen King and accompanied
by Miss Caroline Thompson on keyboard, sang 'I love to do my
homework', 'The Bare Necessities' and before everyone was got
ready to go home, Morgan Muir introduced a closing selection of
old favourites that aptly included 'Show me the way to go home'.
