Concert Artists
The
concert, with which we bring our festival to a close, promises
to be a 'musical treat'. Ballyclare Male Choir, which is making
its first visit to Lambeg, has become well known through-out the
British Isles where it has obtained many accolades as a result
of performances on radio, television and the concert platform.
It has achieved numerous successes at Festivals throughout the
United Kingdom and Ireland and most recently, in May 2005, at
the Wharfdale Festival of Performing Arts in Ilkley, West
Yorkshire where the choir won the Male Choir Competition. The
choir's repertoire of secular and sacred music is in much demand
at concerts and church services throughout the province and
further afield.
Laura Kerr is well know for her stage performances, most
recently in the lead role of 'Hello Dolly' at the National
Concert Hall in Dublin. However Christian music is Laura's first
love and she has moved and inspired thousands as she speaks and
sings from her heart. Those who have already heard Laura will
welcome this opportunity to hear her again. Her accompanist,
Geoffrey Cherry, is also well known locally, producing and
performing in various stage musicals and other secular events.
However, like Laura, he is best known for his contribution to
Christian music ' both in local churches and other venues.
Adding variety to the evening's performance will be the
well-known Symington Memorial Silver Band (from Dundonald) whose
members will be playing a selection of music at the beginning of
the evening and later in the programme.
