Jeffrey Donaldson is special guest speaker at
Mount Zion Free Methodist Church

At morning worship in Mount Zion Free Methodist Church on Sunday 1st July are L to R: Ronnie Nesbitt - Church Secretary, Rt Hon Jeffrey Donaldson MP MLA, Pastor Nick Serb and Mark Ferguson - worship leader.

Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson was the special guest speaker at morning worship in Mount Zion Free Methodist Church, Gregg Street, Lisburn on Sunday 1st July. Pastor Nick Serb led the service and worship leader and singer Mark Ferguson led the praise.

In his address Mr Donaldson shared the story of his life and of his journey in faith and politics in an address entitled 'Christianity can be relevant to you today'. He spoke of one minute in 1989 when he asked Jesus into his life and how that one moment changed his life forever and how he handed over control of his life to Jesus and how his life was moulded into the person Jesus wanted him to be. 'No Surrender' he said, 'are words used often at this time of the year but becoming a Christian is all about surrender - surrendering your life to Christ trusting and leaning on Him'. He explained that his motto is from Proverbs 3 v 5 and 6, 'Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths'. He recalled that he quoted these words in his first speech in Parliament and marvels at the way God has led his life. 'The solution to the troubles in Northern Ireland can be found in 2 Chronicles 7 v14' he said, 'If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land'. In conclusion he spoke of the importance of Christian outreach and his vision for a revival in Lisburn. The local MP emphasised the need to pray for the healing of this land and share our salvation with others and to be a witness in our local community. This, he said, was the greatest challenge facing Christians today.
