Edward
Gorringe was ordained for the Curacy of Aghalee (Non-Stipendiary
Ministry) at an Ordination service in Shankill Parish Church,
Lurgan on Sunday 24th June. He was one of eight new deacons
ordained into the Diocese in what was the largest number of
deacons ordained by the Right Revd Harold Miller in his ten
years as Bishop of Down & Dromore.
After attending Queen?s University, Belfast man Edward went to
London and trained as an accountant. He married Jennifer in St
Polycarp?s, Finaghy and after living in London for two years
they returned to Northern Ireland and moved to Moira, where they
were members of Moira Parish Church. In 1994 they moved to
Hillsborough and are members of Hillsborough Parish Church. Over
a number of years, Edward felt that God was calling him to the
ministry, and finally he put himself forward for selection and
was accepted into training by the Church of Ireland. With much
support and encouragement from his family, he trained for the
ministry at the Church of Ireland Theological College and has
been Student Reader at St Columba?s, Knock since September 2004.
Edward and Jennifer have two children Timothy (age 13) and
Eleanor (age 11) and in a few weeks time they will be moving to
Dromore. They are looking forward to joining Holy Trinity,
Aghalee on Sunday 8th July when Edward will begin an exciting
new phase in his ministry.
