Church interior prior to
refurbishment |
Services in Railway Street Presbyterian Church this Sunday (30th
September) will be the last services before refurbishment of the
church interior. These services will mark another important
milestone in the history of this congregation since its
foundation in 1860.
The morning communion service will be led by the minister, the
Rev Brian Gibson and the senior minister, the Very Rev Dr Howard
Cromie will take part. At the evening service, the choir will
lead the singing of favourite psalms, paraphrases and hymns;
this service will be conducted by the pastoral assistant, the
Rev Bob Lockhart.
Work on the re-roofing of the church was completed last year and
this second phase of refurbishment will involve repairs to and
strengthening of the ceiling, re-vamping of the dais area
including relocation of the organ console, rewiring and the
installation of emergency lighting and alarms, new pews and
gas-fired heating.
During the renovation work, services will be held in the Church
Hall.
