The
funeral service for the Rev Tom Priestly will take place on
Thursday 30th August in the Dunmurry parish where he was rector
for eight years.
Rev Priestly, who would have been 40 in September, was found
dead at his home on Saturday morning, August 25. News of his
passing occasioned great sadness in his parish, Connor Diocese
and the Church of Ireland.
He had served all his ministry in Connor, having been ordained
in 1994. He was curate in Ballymena before moving to St
Colman's, Dunmurry, as rector in 1999.
Paying tribute to Rev Priestly, the Ven. Dr Stephen McBride,
Archdeacon of Connor and Commissary for the Bishop of Connor,
said he was highly regarded by his fellow clergy.
'Our thoughts are very much with Rev Priestly's family circle
and the parishioners of St Colman's, Dunmurry. He was a much
loved and very faithful pastor and priest,' said Archdeacon
McBride.
The funeral service will take place in St Colman's, Dunmurry, at
1.00pm on Thursday 30th August, followed by cremation at
Roselawn at 3.00pm.
