The Most Revd Dr Robin Eames, former Archbishop of Armagh,
was the Keynote Speaker on Saturday 27th September, as Moira
Methodist Church celebrated the Harvest season, and gave
thanks to God for the fruits of the earth with a special
series of services.
The Saturday evening service was one of three services held
over the weekend, as part of the Churchs Harvest
celebrations. An interactive family service was held on
Sunday morning. The service explored the theme: Give thanks
for the Bread of Life and featured music from the Churchs
recently formed M3 youth music group.
On Sunday evening, worshippers were joined by Dromore Male
Voice Choir and were addressed by the Rev Donald Ker,
Secretary, and President-Designate of The Methodist Church
in Ireland, before retiring to the Church Hall for supper.
Rev Liz Hewitt, Minister of Moira Methodist Church said, As
a village church serving a wide rural hinterland, Harvest is
always a special time of year. This year we were honoured to
be joined in our celebrations by our distinguished guests,
Archbishop Eames and Rev Donald Ker. All three of our
services drew visitors from a wide area, who joined with us
to give thanks to God for his gifts at Harvest time. Indeed,
there was literally standing room only for our Sunday
evening service, which was followed by a hearty, Harvest
Supper in the Church Hall.
