Sir Knights of Lisburn, Largymore and Lower Iveagh Districts
packed Hillhall Presbyterian Church for the annual Royal Black
Preceptory Service last Sunday afternoon (24th August). Hosted
by Hillhall Golden Star RBP 1074, the parade assembled at
Lisburn Orange Hall and led by Roses Lane Ends Flute Band, made
its way to Hillhall Presbyterian Church. Lisburn Young
Defenders, Orange & Blue (Lambeg), Ballycoan and Ballylesson Old
Boys Flute Bands also took part in the parade.
The Rev Paul Jamieson, the recently installed minister of
Hillhall, conducted the service. The Rev Gerry Sproule (Largymore
No 9 District Chaplain) read the Scripture lesson. Mrs Maxine
McConaghy presided at the organ and together with the church
choir led the singing of congregational hymns that included,
'Guide me O Thou great Jehovah' and 'O God our help in ages
past'. The soloist was Mrs Joanne Lyttle.
In his address entitled 'being lost', Mr Jamieson referred to
simple stories that Jesus told, namely 'The Lost Sheep' and 'The
Prodigal Son'. He explained that although each story speaks of
the sense of being lost, they go on to tell of the great joy of
being found. He said that if we are not with the Father, we are
lost in a spiritual sense concluding that if we seek, find and
come to Jesus today - we too can know the great joy of being
found.
Sir Knt Desmond Brownlie (RBP 1074 Worshipful Master) concluded
the service by thanking the Session of Hillhall Presbyterian for
the use of the church and also thanked all who organised, took
part in and attended the service.
The offering of 675, will be donated to Diabetes UK Northern
Ireland, this year's RBP designated charity.
