At a meeting in Hillhall Presbyterian Church last Monday evening
(14th January), the congregation agreed that a call should be
made to the Rev Paul Jamieson to become the new minister in
succession to the Rev Dr Jack Richardson MBE, who retired in
December 2006. The Rev Jamieson, currently minister of Christ
Church Presbyterian, Dundonald, will be installed at a date to
be arranged by Dromore Presbytery.
Born in Belfast, he is the son of Mr John and Mrs Evelyn
Jamieson and attended Shankill Road Mission with his family. In
1989, the family moved to Newtownards and became members of the
congregation of Strean Presbyterian Church. After attending
Belfast Boys� Model School, Mr Jamieson progressed to Belfast
Bible College where he obtained a Dip Th (Diploma in Theology)
in 1988. From 1994 to 1997 he attended the University of Ulster
where he obtained a BA Hons degree in Business and Finance and
in 2004 he graduated MDiv (Master of divinity) at Queen�s
University, Belfast.
From 2002 to 2004 he was assistant minister at 2nd Comber
Presbyterian Church during which time he was licensed in Strean
Presbyterian Church, Newtownards in June 2003. Mr Jamieson was
ordained and installed as minister of Christ Church
Presbyterian, Dundonald on Friday 1st October 2004.
He married Jean Cooper in March 1989 and they have two children
Jonathan (16) and Leah (14).
