At the launch of the
Maghaberry Elim men's breakfast club in
the church hall are Pastor Stephen
Mitchell, Elim Evangelical Director, far
left; Assemblyman Basil McCrea, and
Pastor Paul Evans of Maghaberry, second
from right.
MAGHABERRY Elim Church will now be
providing food for the stomach as well as food for the soul
with the formation of a new Men's Breakfast Club.
Speaking after the launch of the club in
the Maghaberry's church's minor hall, Pastor Paul Evans
said: "Nearly 20 members of the church and guests took part
in the inaugural men's breakfast club, which we hope to run
quarterly throughout the year.
"Members and guests tucked into a hearty,
traditional Ulster fry, after which we had a short epilogue.
I suppose we proved that Maghaberry Elim can provide food
for thought, both physically and spiritually."
The men's breakfast club epilogue was
taken by Pastor Stephen Mitchell from Belfast, who is Elim's
Evangelical Director and leader of the Ignite evangelical
outreach team.
Pastor Mitchell is currently hosting a
series of Bible studies on Christian outreach techniques on
Wednesday evenings in the Maghaberry Elim church hall.
He will also be playing a pivotal role in
the church's planned mission in the village next month,
which will culminate in another Making A Difference youth
night on Sunday March 9 at 8.30pm.
The Church will also be soon hosting a
monthly event on Wednesday mornings for the village's men
and women aged over 50. Paster Evans added: "This event will
be another part of our community strategy to provide
outreach events for all ages in our village. Their event
will take place on the final Wednesday of each month in the
church hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm and will provide free
lunches.
"We already have a very popular youth
strategy through our youth clubs, which run on Friday with
Detonate from 6.45 pm to 7.30 pm; the main youth club from 8
pm to 9.30 pm; Sunday School and junior Bible class - both
10.15 am to 11.10 am, and youth fellowship on Sunday night
after the Gospel service.
"These new developments will show that God's Message is
as relevant to today's society as it was at the time when
Christ Himself was on this earth and died for our sins."
