Call for choirs to take part in an evening of celebration
to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of Lisburn

Presbyterian Church on Friday 12th June at 7.30pm to mark
the 400th anniversary of the founding of Lisburn. L to R:

A call is made to members of choirs throughout the whole Lisburn area to take part in an evening of celebration to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of Lisburn, which will be held in Railway Street Presbyterian Church on Friday 12th June at 7.30pm. During the evening the Mayor will launch a new book on Lisburn’s Churches entitled ‘Lisburn’s Rich Church Heritage’.
The celebratory feast of musical entertainment is being organised by Stephen McLoughlin (Principal of the Lisburn School of Music) and Tom Whyte (Director of Music at First Lisburn). The joint choir will be leading the hymns starting with, ‘How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place’ and closing with ‘Thine Be the Glory’. They will also be performing two pieces ‘Non Nobis Domine’ and ‘Come Holy Spirit’. Practices began on Thursday (14th May) and will continue on Thursday 28th May in First Lisburn Presbyterian Church at 7.30pm with a final rehearsal on Thursday 11th June in Railway Street Presbyterian at 7.30pm. Music will be provided at the practice.
It is still not too late to get involved, so if you are a choir member, come along to the next practice on Thursday 28th May and be part of what promises to be a most memorable and historic uniting of congregations from all churches in the whole Lisburn area.
