Lisburn District LOL No 6 held their annual District Orange Service in Christ Church Parish on Sunday afternoon 12th July. Owing to renovation work on the church building, the service was held in the church hall, which was packed to capacity with brethren, guests and members of local bands. The rector, the Rev Paul Dundas, led the service and in his address from James 1, he spoke of the importance of living up to what we profess as Orangemen and followers of Jesus Christ. He went on emphasise the need to be shaped by God’s Word and to be a blessing to others as we live in the light of it’s truth, to be doers of the Word and not simply hearers only. Senior Minister, the Rev John Pickering, former rector of Drumcree, led the intercessions. Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson and Bro Rev Stephen Kilpatrick (District Chaplain) read the Scripture lessons. Renee Madden presided at the organ and together with the church choir led the praise that included, ‘How deep the Father’s love for us’ and ‘To God be the glory’.
Worshipful District Master, Bro Fred Willoughby, thanked all who attended the service and gave a special thanks to all who took part. He concluded by wishing the brethren an enjoyable day as they host the ‘Twelfth’ demonstration in their home city of Lisburn in this the historic occasion of the 400th anniversary of it’s founding.
