Colin McKibbin licensed for the Christian ministry
Colin
McKibbin, a member of Hillsborough congregation, was licensed as a
probationer for the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland at a
service conducted by a commission of The Presbytery of Dromore in his
home church on Sunday 21st June. Colin, who is currently Assistant
Minister at First Armagh Presbyterian Church, was educated at
Hillsborough Primary School and Dromore High School before going into
the building trade. He has been married to Beth, formerly of Derryadd
Parish, for 20 years.
The Rev Howard Gilpin (Moderator) conducted worship and welcomed the large congregation. The Rev Dr Jack Richardson MBE (Senior Emeritus of Hillhall Presbyterian Church) read the Scripture lesson; the Rev Gary Trueman (Minister of Banbridge Road Dromore) preached the sermon and the Rev John Davey (Minister of Hillsborough and Clerk of Presbytery) gave the charge. Mrs Diane McMullan, Organist and Choir mistress, presided at the organ. The choir sang the anthem, ‘Be still’ and the congregational hymns included, ‘I the Lord of sea and sky’ and ‘In Christ alone’.
Following the service, a delightful supper was served in the Orr Hall providing the opportunity for members of the congregation to congratulate Colin and Beth.
