Detonate' Christmas party goes with a bang

Maghaberry Elim's junior youth club members and leaders called Detonate, celebrate their annual Christmas concert and supper in the church hall.MAGHABERRY Elim's junior youth club, Detonate, held a successful Christmas concert and supper in the church on Sunday. Parents, relatives and friends packed the village church for a lively series of musical and speech items by the children aged between nursery school and P7.

The church's own highly talented worship team led the opening devotions and church pastor, Mr Paul Evans, welcomed everyone to the service.

The Detonate concert was chaired by youth leader, Mr David McKee, who also gave the Gospel address.

Teenage violist Rebecca Armstrong played a series of melodies. Young Megan McKee read a festive poem. The offering hymns and choruses were taken by Detonate worker, Mr Ernie Gilmore.

The Detonate choir gave their own rendering of the nativity play, as well as choruses Our God, and The Candy Cane. The children themselves closed the service in prayer.

Pastor Evans thanked the Detonate team for their dedication and the parents for supporting Detonate by sending along their children. The concert was followed by a delicious supper in the church hall.

On the Friday before the Detonate church concert, almost 40 children from Detonate and the church Sunday School held their annual Christmas party at an indoor adventure complex in Lurgan.

After exciting fun and games, the children tucked into a spread of refreshments before a visit from Santa who brought selection boxes for everyone.

On Sunday December 20, the Sunday School — known as JAM (Jesus And Me) — as well as the Teens Bible Class will host their traditional carol service starting at 6.30pm
