Kingdom Life City Church celebrates its 10th Birthday

Special services on Sunday 1st, Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd February were held to celebrate the 10th birthday of Kingdom Life City Church. The Pastor, Brian Agnew, welcomed the large congregation and guests to morning worship on Sunday, which was followed by a delightful three-course dinner including birthday cake. Elim Superintendent Pastor Eric McCombe recalled Brian’s early Christian days as an elder in Hillsborough Elim and his calling to set up a fellowship at Skyline Drive, Lisburn beside the Harmony Heights Shopping Centre in February 1999; and their move later to the present premises at Graham Gardens, which opened on 14th November 2002. In the week prior to the opening of the new church at Skyline Drive, meetings were held in Brian and Mary Agnew’s home during which time Brian's sister Heather became the first convert of the new fellowship. Brian felt that this was a firm confirmation of God’s calling to set up what is now a modern vibrant church right in the heart of the city.
The guest speaker last Sunday morning was Pastor Bill Jeffreys from Costa Silenco Church, Tenerife. Basing his sermon on Second Corinthians 2 v 12 – 17, Bill spoke of the ‘Aroma of Christ’ emphasising the need for Christians to give off this fragrance so that every one can smell Christ through us. There was a video link set up to his church in Tenerife. Also taking part were Szczepan (Stephan) Cackowski of the Polish Mission Church and Steve and Danielle Bosman.
The celebration services continued on Monday and Tuesday evening with testimony’s and interviews from people who had come to faith in Christ through the church. On Monday evening the guest speaker was Lewis Smith from Jordan Victory Church who brought a message based on Psalm 92 about the attributes of the palm tree, which happens to be the logo of KLCC. There were contributions from Keith Mitchell from Crown Jesus Ministries and an encouraging tribute from Pastor Robert McCauley. Dessie Maxwell from Xplorations shared about how God had brought an oasis to the city centre through KLCC and again brought several intriguing thoughts on the symbolism of the palm tree throughout the Bible. On Tuesday evening the guest speaker was Pastor Norman Christie from Lisburn Elim Church who shared a message on ‘Understanding your ministry’. Pastor Wesley Lindsay and Pastor Graham McLellan spoke of the encouragement they have received from KLCC over the past 10 years and prayed for God’s blessing for the next 10 years. There were moving testimonies from Brian’s sister and daughter on how they came to faith in Christ and the change that it has made to their lives. There were messages of congratulations on the church’s 10th birthday from around the world via email and video. Both evenings services were followed by light refreshments
