Sun shines on Maghaberry Elim for their family day

Elim hosted a highly successful Family Fun Day as hundreds of villagers
and visitors attended the sun-soaked event in the church car park.
Earlier, church members had to endure a torrential downpour during their sponsored Walk For Africa around the village's roads. This event coincided with the church's missionary weekend.
However, prayers were answered for the Fun Day and the sun shone throughout, allowing the many children and adults who visited the various stalls and activities to thoroughly enjoy the event.
The exciting programme of activities was compiled by Fun Day Co-ordinator Brian Mercer.
Mr Mercer stated: All the events took place in the church car park and to keep the family atmosphere going, we lined up a fantastic series of events, which all the families clearly enjoyed."
Representatives of the emergency services, including the fire brigade and police, attended with their vehicles and equipment on display. The sirens proved especially popular with young people.
Church pastor, Mr Paul Evans, said: "The fun day demonstrated the important role which Maghaberry Elim Church has in the life of the local community.
"One of the main purposes of our fun day was to emphasise the importance of family in the Christian faith."
Such was the success of the Fun Day that the church leadership is now considering making it an annual event in the Maghaberry village calendar.
Later this month, the members and leaders of the junior youth club, Detonate, and the Sunday School - known as JAM (Jesus And Me) - will be holding their fun day at Hillsborough Elim Church.
