MANY members of Lisburn city centre churches joined to
rejoice in Christ's resurrection at a 'Joint Dawn Service' in Castle Gardens
on Easter Sunday.
Frank Bailie and members of Lisburn Cathedral Praise Band
led the hearty celebratory worship that included, 'He has risen'. David
Lamont was in charge of the sound desk and amplification equipment. Eggs
have always been part of celebrations at Easter because they are associated
with
new life' when the chick breaks from the egg; after Jesus had risen
from the dead it was easy to think of eggs as a sign of new life.
The Rev Brian Gibson (Railway Street) led the service and the Rev John Brackenridge (First Lisburn), Evelyn White (First Lisburn Deaconess) and Simon Genoe (Lisburn Cathedral Curate Assistant) led the prayers and read the Scripture lessons.
In a short Easter message the Rev Brackenridge spoke of the 'new beginning' and how the whole shape of things to come, was changed by what Simon Peter and the other disciple saw when they came at dawn to the empty tomb and found that Christ had risen from the dead.
The service was followed by breakfast in the adjoining Lisburn Cathedral Church Hall.
