THE members of Christ Church Parish Choir are presenting a series of three lunchtime concerts in Christ Church this May. They have been delighted by the support of the local community since the concerts were established in 2006 and very much hope that local people will support the concerts again this year.
The concerts will be held in the recently renovated church each Tuesday at 1.15pm and will last approximately 30 minutes.
On Tuesday May 11 the concert will feature a programme of classical and popular favourites performed by leading clarinettist Gillian McCutheon. A born entertainer, she is much in demand as a soloist across Ireland and beyond. Gillian will be accompanied by Belfast pianist, Mark McGrath -Director of Music at St Finnian's Parish Church.
On Tuesday May 18 the sounds of the Ulster Orchestra's Principal trumpeter Paul Young will be raising the roof as accompanied by Christ Church's organist Richard Yarr they will perform a selection of rousing trumpet tunes.
On Tuesday May 25 6the final concert will feature a showcase of Lisburn talent including Riverdale Primary School, winner of the recent Lisburn City Primary School choir of the Year 2010. They will be performing everything from show tunes to sacred favourites.
Admission is free, however retiring donations would be appreciated.
Members of the Church Choir will be serving lunch from 12.15pm on the day of each concert. A choice of hot food, salads, desserts and refreshments will be available at a cost of just £6.50. Places can be confirmed by signing the sheets in the church porch or by contacting Iris in the Parish Office on 9267 3271. In light of previous demand for lunches, early booking would be strongly advised.
