Enjoying the Carol singing at the Seniors' dinner in Lisburn Baptist Church.
A LARGE crowd of seniors enjoyed a fabulous meal and programme in the church hall of Lisburn Baptist Church in Longstone Street last Saturday. The church youth fellowship with their leaders not only put on the annual programme, but prepared and served a four-course Christmas meal for all the senior citizens connected with the church.
After a humorous sketch (depicting the pastor, John Taylor and his wife
Christine on a typical Christmas morning), the Seniors joined in singing
well-known carols led by the Youth
Fellowship. Bringing the evening to a close, Chris McCarthy, a student at
Belfast Bible College, read about the birth of Christ from the Bible.
He emphasised that Christmas was really not about 'Shop, Shop, Shop', but is a time when we give to those in need as we remember the coming of God in Jesus Christ into the world, who then gave himself at the cross for our salvation.
John Woolsey, a retired church elder, thanked the young people and the kitchen team led by David Spence for a wonderful meal and a very enjoyable evening.
