TWO members of Harmony Hill Presbyterian Church, Lambeg took an important step in their journey to become missionaries in Malawi when they were commissioned at a special service in the church.
Volker and JinHyeog Glissmann and their young family, leave Lisburn soon to take up their missionary work with TEEM - Theological Education by Extension in Malawi.
The couple have lived in Lisburn for four years and have been leading members of the congregation.
JinHyeog, from South Korea, is a talented musician and has served as musical director and organist. Volker, who is German' studied at Theological College and received a PhD in the Old Testament.
A large crowd supported the couple at the commissioning service which was conducted by the Moderator of the Dromore Presbytery, Rev John Brackenridge.
He was supported by Rev David McConaghy, who read from the scriptures and Rev Uel Marrs - Director of BMO presented the candidates. Rev David Knox, minister of the church gave the charge.
The music was led by the choir which sang the fitting anthem 'I'll go in the strength of the Lord'.
After the service supper was served and a presentation was made by Kim Lindsay to the Glissmann family of an electric piano. An emotional reply by JinHyeog thanked everyone who had helped in the process of preparation and also for the prayers that have supported them.
Members of the congregation wished the family well in their important venture.
