Week of Outreach 'Love is...' at St Paul's

A WEEK of outreach entitled 'Love is...' will be held in St Paul's Parish Church from Saturday February 13 to Sunday February 21.
Organised by the rector, the Rev James Carson and pastoral assistant, Stephen McWhirter, the guest speakers will be Roger Murphy and Paul Hoey, supported by Paul Woodman, a Christian Illusionist and Escapologist. Each morning (beginning Monday February 15) there will be prayer and breakfast not just for the team but for anyone who would wish to go along. Events are as follows:
Saturday February I3: 'Barn Dance' in the church hall at 7.30pm, Sunday February I4: Morning and evening worship at I0.00am, II.30am and 6.30pm, Monday February I5: 'Community Quiz' in Tonagh Primary School at 7.30pm, Tuesday February I6: 'Can't Cook Won't Cook' in the church hall at 7.30pm, Wednesday February I7: 'Sports Quiz' in Knockmore Primary School at 7.30pm, 'Living With Loss' - a service in the church at 7.30pm, Thursday February 18: 'Dads and Lads' in the church hall at 7.30pm, 'Gospel Concert' featuring the Harvesters in the church at 7.30pm, Friday February 19: 'Chocolate Heaven' in the church hall at 8.00pm - an evening for ladies featuring chocolate fountains and food and craic. There will be an event for young people in Exodus (Railway Street) -- look for details.
Entertained
Saturday February 20: 'Breakfast for Men' in the church hall at 9.00am, 'Family Fun Day' at the church hall from 2.00pm to 4.00pm - Keeping the kids entertained and getting up to his tricks will be Christian Illusionist, Paul Woodman, Sunday February 2I: Morning and evening worship - 11.00am and 6.30pm.
Other events include 'hot potatoes and a hot topic' for discussion during lunch-time in Knockmore Community Centre on Monday February I5 to Friday February I9 at 12.30pm each day. This is a way of engaging with issues that people may be struggling with for answers in their lives. 'Why bother to pray?' 'Why does a God of love allow suffering?' 'Can we really believe in Heaven and Hell?' 'Can we really experience forgiveness?'
A Baraka team from Kajiado Diocese in Kenya will arrive on Wednesday February 17. They will take part in the Mothers' Union meeting on Monday 22 and an event for the entire parish in the church on Tuesday February 23.
The following Sunday (February 28) the team will be taking part in all church services. 'Yearn members include Rev Naftaly Lemooke (Team Leader) who spent a year at Belfast Bible College, Rev Capt James Njoroge, Rev Capt Eric Solonka, Rev Mary Kuria, Mrs Jayne Kuluo and Mr Daniel Taama. The word for blessing in Swahili is 'Baraka' and that's what the team from Kenya are seeking to bring.
