Women's world day of prayer celebrated at St Columba's

ON Friday March 5 over three million people world wide prayed and worshipped together during an annual day of prayer and women from Churches all around Lisburn joined in a service of worship at St Columba's Church, Old Warren using a service prepared by Christian women in Cameroon. Evelyn Whyte, Deaconess of First Lisburn Presbyterian Church gave an inspiring address on the theme 'Let Everything That Has Life Praise God', and the programme prepared by the women of Cameroon was presented by a representation of women from St Columba's and other congregations.

The choir led by organist Mrs Myrtle Campbell sang 'He Came Down That We May Have Love, and Cameroonian music was played during the offering. The retiring offering raised £542.15 and will go towards the work of the Movement for Christian literature societies and for Christian educational projects.

The ladies of St Columba's were delighted with the turnout and would like to thank all those who participated in the service for their valued support and to those who joined in the service of worship.
