Come, Now is the Time to Worship

A hymn sung by Seymour Street Praise Group 'Come, now is the time to worship' aptly summed up the mood of a great afternoon of praise and worship entitled 'Hymns in the Park' which was held at the refurbished bandstand in Wallace Park on Sunday.

Organised in conjunction with Lisburn City Council Leisure Services Department, the clergy and representatives from the four participating Lisburn city centre churches which took part were the Rev Winston Good, retired minister of Seymour Street Methodist Church, who conducted the short act of worship; Rev Brian Gibson (Railway Street Presbyterian), Marion Craig (First Lisburn Presbyterian) and Denis Fullerton (Lisburn Cathedral).

In a short address Denis spoke of the importance of praise for — 'who God is' and praise for 'what God does for us'.

Garvey Silver Band with conductor Tom Whyte led the praise which included 'Praise my soul, the King of heaven' and 'What a friend we have in Jesus'. The band played in concert for about an hour prior to the hymn singing which commenced and ended in dry sunny conditions. Not even a light shower during the event dampened the spirits of those gathered to worship.
