I really enjoy teaching Pilates and passing on my knowledge to others.

9am to 5pm I work as a physio and then I focutesPilates People NI in the evenings. We currently run classes at Trinity Methodist Church Community Venue, Lisburn, Dromore Community Centre and Downshire Tennis Club, Hillsborough.

Pilates is a mind and body conditioning exercise program which targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen by building strength from the inside out. This form of strength is commonly referred to as core stability. Pilates improves overall core stability and posture and rebalances the body. It is becoming increasingly popular within the fitness industry.

People are looking for exercise methods that relieve stress, improve body image and fitness and prevent injury. Each class lasts 1 hour and there may be a maximum of 14 people in each class. This allows me to provide more individual attention and carefully monitor the progression of the exercises. Apart from the antenatal classes, the classes are equally suitable and beneficial for both men and women which is a question I am asked a lot.

Before my classes I will prepare in advance what I am going to teach. The classes are well structured starting with a gentle warm up before moving into the full exercise programme for 45 - 50 minutes. I demonstrate the exercises and then carefully observe to make sure everyone is performing the exercises safely and effectively and I give feedback to ensure clients get the most benefit from the exercises. There is a gentle cool down and at the end I am able to answer any questions clients might have.

As well as teaching the classes I update our web-site www.pilatespeopleni.co.uk and manage our facebook and twitter pages. I also respond to emails from people asking about the classes.

As well as the classes we have also planned several Pilates Spa Breaks for the Spring/ Summer and will take place at The Galgorm Hotel and Spa, Ballymena and the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen. These breaks are open to everyone and as well as Pilates classes they will incorporate Nordic Walking which I also instruct in.

I really enjoy teaching Pilates and passing on my knowledge to others. It is very exciting to see Pilates People NI go from strength to strength and watching people progress and reap the benefits of what Pilates offers.
