A GLENAVY beauty will represent Belfast in
this year's Rose of Tralee competition.
Lauren McCann beat off competition from
dozens of local girls to win the title at a a gala function in
the city last week.
The 19-year-old, community youth work student
at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown, will go to Kerry
where she will compete for the overall prize in June.
Lauren is no stranger to the spotlight as she
has performed in numerous musicals and was an extra on the movie
'Breakfast in Pluto'.
She said: "I couldn't believe it when my name
was called out.
My legs gave in when I heard n name - I
thought it was a joke.
"I was absolutely astounded all the other
girls were so lovely.
"I would like to thank McGeowns Bar who
sponsored me on the night."
Lauren also said her family were keen
followers of the Rose Tralee Competition and were gobsmacked by
her win.
Her success in the Belfast heat brought her
housands of pounds worth of prizes including a weekend for two
in Barcelona, wardrobe of clothes from Vila, Newbridge
jewellery, makeover from Irish Makeup Artist of the Year
Rosemary Wright, goodies from Boots and a portfolio photographs
from award winning snapper Ciaran O'Neill.
