TWO Crumlin girls are showing their support for a leading local cancer charity by taking on a challenge of great proportions.
In October Emma Bailie and Leanne Hynes will attempt to trek the Great Wall of China in a bid to raise funds for Action Cancer. They have put in months of training in preparation for the 75km challenge and are now working hard to fundraise.
On Friday October 8 they have arranged a Dinner Dance in the Hiiteon Hotel, Belfast hosted by radio and TV presenter Robin Elliott and featuring comedy from top political comedian John McBlain. A fun filled evening is planned with fabulous raffle prizes on offer, to include autographed photos from local golfing celebrities, and music from top local band The Brokers.
Emma commented: "When I saw the trek on Action Cancer's website I knew
straight away I
had to do it and luckily I managed to rope Leanne into joining me. We're
looking forward to the challenge ahead and learning more about this ancient
world wonder. What better way to do both than while helping such a
worthwhile cause and testing our own physical fitness."
Emma and Leanne have pledged to raise over £5,000 which will help Action Cancer to fund its life saving early detection and support services which are available to those people living in Northern Ireland with a cancer diagnosis as well as their families.
Tickets are priced at £50 which includes a four course meal, wine on arrival and a live band. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Emma and Leanne 07521194842 or Greatwall2010@hotmail.co.uk
