Rhythm and Rhyme.
THE assembly hall of Laurelhill Community College was alive with the sound of music recently as local choir Rhythm and Rhyme held a successful charity concert in aid of Chest, Heart and Stroke.
This year's concert, entitled 'Love, Laughter and Legends', saw the all female choir perform an eclectic mix of hits from much loved and celebrated British artists ranging from Dame Vera Lynn to the Beatles, to Queen and Snow Patrol.
There was a lot of laughter in the hall during the evening provided by resident compere Alec McCullagh who kept the jokes flowing throughout the course of the evening. An additional treat for the audience was some unexpected male solos and a performance of Truly Scrumptious from the Pauline Walker School of Dance in Newtownards.
The choir, founded by Musical Director Emma Collins in 2005, consists of women of all ages and backgrounds that have one special thing in common - a love of singing.
The ladies have, over the years, combined their passion for music and
	performance with the
hard work and dedication required to raise funds for charity. To date Rhythm
and Rhyme has raised in excess of £17,000 for local charities. The proceeds
of this year's concert were in aid of the
Campaign for Cardiac Rehabilitation through Chest, Heart and Stroke. This
was in memory of local man, Mark Jennings, who tragically died suddenly in
April. Musical Director Emma said: 'A concert of 'love, laughter and
legends' is a fitting tribute to Mark. He will be sorely missed by his
	family and friends."
