Councillor Jenny Palmer, Chairman of the Council's Economic Development Committee with local traders from Grand Street, Lisburn: (l-r) Mr. Seamus Scullion, Hilden Brewery; Mr. David Finlay, Hilden Pharmacy; Mr. Vincent Doran, Doran and Sons Butchers and Mr. Tom Morrison, McCleans Bookmakers.
A NUMBER of traders and property owners from Grand Street, just outside the city centre, have come together to work in partnership with Lisburn City Council to bring about improvements to the appearance of vacant properties in the Street.
They are hoping it will reduce the negative visual impact of these buildings.
To date discussions have been held with the Mayor, Alderman Paul Porter and Councillor Jenny Palmer, Chairman of the Council's Economic Development Committee, who said: "The Council anticipates that this initiative will give the vacant buildings in this street a much needed cosmetic make-over through painting the shop fronts, and the production of vibrant window graphics with a clear message that this area is open for business."
Mrs. Palmer added: "However, in order to make this initiative a success it is vital that all of the property owners and businesses in the street engage with the Council. "I would therefore like to take this opportunity to ask any commercial property owners in Grand Street to contact the Council with a view to participating in this initiative."
A meeting was scheduled this week at the Civic Centre where all property
owners were invited to
attend."
