MAGHERAGALL Pipe Band has launched a CD called 'At Hame Wae Tha Ulster Scots' in conjunction with Burnside Accordion Band.

Both the bands have been invited to a parade in London next year on the same day as the Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour).

The CD will generate funds to pay the cost of transporting their instruments to London for the parade. There are 18 tracks on the CD and a wide variety of tunes that will suit every taste - for example 'Amazing Grace', 'Scotland the Brave' and Highland Cathedral' to name but a few.

Anyone wishing to purchase a CD can do so as they will be available in the 'field' at Broomhedge today (July 12) from the members or during band practice on a Wednesday night.

Magheragall Pipe Band was formed in 2005 with people from the local area who were interested in learning about Ulster Scots musical traditions.

They have some experienced players from other bands but the majority of their membership is made up of people who have been band members only since Magheragall's inception.

They have been actively playing at functions since 2005 and have had many positive responses and praise. The functions include private parties, barbecues and Ulster Scots events as well as Orange and Black church services.

Their uniforms and instruments were dedicated in 2005 and have attended many functions/parades including the Mayor's Parade for Lisburn City Council in 2005 and 2006.

They have had many bookings already for 2007, including the parade in London.

Last Friday they achieved yet another honour when they won the `McCusker Family Perpetual Trophy for the Best Overall Band at the Lurgan `mini–twelfth'.

The Band is always looking for new recruits both with experience and none and anyone wishing to join will be welcome to the new session commencing on Wednesday August 2 at Lowquarters Orange Hall, Ballinderry Road, Magheragall.
