Mark
Devlin, 17, is a lower sixth pupil at Rathmore Grammar
School. He likes to experience new things and enjoyed
working in the Star to find out more about life as a
journalist.
What do you like doing on your day off?
Enter a snooker competition, go out with friends. buy
CDs, watch football, play Pro Evo football, buy clothes and
generally just try to have fun.
If you were to choose your favourite meal what would
it be, where and why?
A good curry with naan bread always goes down well.
Anytime, anywhere.
What has been your proudest moment?
Winning the local snooker competition for the first time
and the �60 prize money. That was a great feeling.
What was the most frightening moment of your life?
Realising that I only had five minutes to do four pages
in my RE GCSE after thinking I had half an hour left. That
was a fiasco.
How would you describe your taste in clothes?
You can't go wrong with leans and a t shirt.
What would you do if you won a million pounds?
Buy a new pair of football boots, give some to charity
and then blow the rest in Vegas.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Vomiting in Geography on the first day at secondary
school. It was horrendous.
What music do you like?
Mostly indie stuff like Babyshambles, Arctic monkeys,
Dirty pretty things and the Holloways. I like a small number
of bands but usually become really involved in their music -
the lyrics and origins of songs interest me.
What sports person do you most admire?
Ronnie O'Sullivan is ridiculously talented but very
unpredictable, which makes him great to watch.
Describe your best ever holiday. What would
your dream holiday be?
I really liked the size and diversity of London -there
is so much to do it's impossible to be bored. Ideal holiday
would probably be a round the world tour with all my mates.
What is your greatest remaining ambition?
To hit a century break on the snooker table. My best so
far is 50
If you could spend a day with a celebrity whom would
you choose?
Pete Doherty is a legend. I'm very much into his music
and he is a lot more intelligent than the press make out. He
has inspired many people to take an interest in literature
and poetry along with reviving the music scene with the
Libertines in the early 2000s.
If you were stranded on a desert island what three
things would you want with you?
All my friends, a radio and a Barbecue.
