Michael McCartney, is a well known dog trainer in Lisburn. He runs Glen-craig Canine Training as well as being head trainer and Chairman of Lisburn Dog School. He lives with his family in the city.
What do you like doing on your day off?
I like to watch football on the TV and really enjoy walking my six dogs.
If you were to choose your favourite meal what would
it be, where and why?
A good old fashioned steak dinner with all the trimmings. The Ballymac
is hard to beat.
What has been your proudest moment?
Being a father.
What was the most frightening moment of your life?
When my daughter nearly died after her appendix burst. It was touch and
go.
How would you describe your taste in clothes?
Sporty. I like to wear jeans a lot.
What would you do if you won a million pounds?
I would upgrade the house but still stay in the area, pay off my
children's university costs and buy them a car and go on a good holiday.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
When I made a horlicks at a dog show and cost my dog Ace the
European cup in front of 10,000 people. I made a bad judgement.
What music do you like?
All sorts including Take That.
What sports person do you most admire?
George Best.
Describe your best ever holiday. What would your
dream holiday be?
The best was a holiday on the Gambia for my 50th birthday. It was a
humbling experience and I ended up giving a lot of my stuff away to the
local people. I would like to go to Australia to judge and train
dogs.
What is your greatest remaining ambition?
To keep healthy.
If you could spend a day with a celebrity whom would
you choose?
Sir Alex Ferguson.
If you were stranded on a desert island what three
things would you want with you?
Wife, kids and dogs.
