GLENAVY drummer Paul Fox is getting ready for the upcoming City of Song Festival in Derry, when he will take to the stage with his band Kitty and the Can Openers. Paul is a recent member of the band but is enjoying being part of the band, who have recently signed a two year record deal with Audio-Ill Records. The band were discovered by Vic Fulton who runs Audio-Ill Records, after playing a gig with the band in Belfast. They then recorded a demo and sent it off to a music publishing company called Grand Parade in London, which jumped at the chance to sign them.
What has been your proudest moment?
Being asked to partake in this interview of course.
What was the most frightening moment of your life?
We had a fire in the kitchen the other day, I was cooking some
bacon and it caught fire! I thought "What do I do!? What do I do!?" All I
could think of was saving the bacon. You never know how you're going to
react in those kind of situations, do you?
How would you describe your taste in clothes?
Delicious.
What would you do if you won a million pounds?
Spend it, definitely.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Every day is more embarrassing than the last! When I wake up in the
morning and look in the mirror, I think 'Man, you can't go on like this,
it's embarrassing.'
What music do you like?
I only listen to Drum & Bass; Guy Called Gerald, Commix, Fanu,
Goldie, Dj Hype, etc....that and Hank Williams.
Describe your best ever holiday. What would your
dream holiday be?
I remember one holiday in Edinburgh during the festival. No, I don't
remember it at all, so it must have been amazing. Dream holiday? I guess I
always wanted to go to Tokyo and sleep in one of those capsule things.
What is your greatest remaining ambition?
To see a Tornado in real life. If I could, I'd be one of those
storm chaser guys, spend all day taking photos of tornados and lightening
and the likes.
If you could spend a day with a celebrity whom
would you choose?
Kirstie Alsopp off 'Location, Location, Location', she's lovely.
If you were stranded on a desert island what
three things would you want with you?
What did Tom Hanks have in that film? An ice skate, a big piece of
plane fuselage and a football and he survived! So those.
