TELEVISON presenter Steve Leonard, 36, recently visited Ballycarrickmaddy Primary School where two of his cousins are pupils. He was born in Enniskillen but now lives in Cheshire. Steve graduated as a vet and appeared on the programme 'Vets in Practice'. Since then he has presented numerous natural history/wildlife programmes from around the world while still practicing as a vet.
What do you like doing on your day off?
Mountain biking and gardening.
If you were to choose your favourite meal
what would it be, where and
why?
Vegetarian sushi or eggs, beans and chips, in Beanmans Café,
2.5 miles from my house because it's a place where everyone knows your
name.
What has been your proudest moment?
Passing my veterinary exams
What was the most frightening moment of your
life?
Walking into an enclosure of fully grown lions in Johnannesburg.
How would you describe your taste in clothes?
Scruffy.
What would you do if you won a million pounds?
Buy a second motorbike, give some to my mum and the Borneo
Orangutan Survival Project.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Getting my first diagnosis as a vet wrong in front of camera.
What music do you like?
U2, 4 Vets and a Blacksmith.
What sports person do you most admire?
Former rugby player Keith Wood.
Describe your best ever holiday. What would your
dream holiday be?
Diving with sharks in South Africa. My dream holiday would be
to go to the moon.
What is your greatest remaining ambition?
To be still practicing as a vet when I am 65 years old.
