Michael Collins, 22, is studying newspaper journalism at Belfast Metropolitan College and he also works part time in Dunnes Stores. He spent a month at the Star finding out what life as a journalist is like.
What do you like doing on your day off?
Reading a book, watching TV or playing guitar.
If you were to choose your favourite meal what would it be?
Cooking burgers and sausages over a campfire in the Mournes with as
much cider as you can carry.
What has been your proudest moment?
Don't have one but I think my mum was proud when I quit smoking
What was the most frightening moment of your life?
I have a recurring dream where I climb to a great
height and then become terrified that I won't make it down alive.
How would you describe your taste in clothes?
Fairly minimal - I only have one pair of jeans.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Probably one of the many times I have fallen over
when drunk.
What music do you like?
I think Bob Dylan, 'Townes Van Zandt and Leonard
Cohen are the best songwriters ever. But also The Band, The Felice
Brothers, The Dubliners, Ray Charles for example.
What sports person do you most admire?
Snooker player Jimmy White.
Describe your best ever holiday. What would your
dream holiday be?
My best holiday was when I travelled with two
friends down Ireland's west coast to Kerry camping for a week. My
dream holiday is happening this summer. We have dubbed it The Great
Irish World Tour of Ireland' and will be travelling around the
country camping and busking.
What is your greatest remaining ambition?
To write a novel.
If you could spend a day with a celebrity whom
would you choose?
Quentin Tarantino just to talk about movies.
If you were stranded on a desert island what
three things would you want with you?
A picnic basket, a Cuban cigar and a hot air balloon
