HISTORY
Maureen Waite came to faith in January 1993 and her husband William in March of the same year. They began holding gospel meetings in their home with seventy people attending the first meeting. Sadly, Maureen died of cancer in November of that year. Prior to her death she had expressed her desire to hold gospel meetings in their barn. A temporary meetinghouse was erected on the farm in 1994 and when it started to leak William said, “We need to build” to which Jean Smyth (Maureen Waite’s sister) quickly replied, “We need to pray”. Pray they did and thanks to answered prayers, the present hall was opened to the glory of God on 3rd January 1998. The committee members at that time were Mr W Waite, Mr and Mrs S McKinstry, Mrs J McClelland and Mr and Mrs M Smyth. A brass plaque erected in the hall records the committee’s sincere thanks to all their friends who by their prayers, gifts and untiring efforts brought about the erection of this new building for worship, fellowship and the preaching of the gospel. Gospel meetings are held in the hall on the first Saturday of each month and prayer meetings are held each Tuesday evening.
