Brief history as recorded in a book ‘Lisburn’s Rich Church Heritage’ by John Kelly
About the year 1860 a few believers in the Lord Jesus Christ met together in a house in Young Street to remember the Lord. They later met in a hall in Market Square, until 1874, when the Stewart brothers, who owned a thread manufacturing mill, purchased a hall in Market Street. This was their meeting place until 1913, when the believers had the present building erected in Wallace Avenue, which had just been made. Over the years, as the congregation increased in number, the building was modernised and extra car parking was provided. The present congregation continues to meet each week to remember the Lord and then to carry on Gospel work in various ways, and to meet for prayer and for the study of God’s Word.
