Steve Campbell from Coleraine has been appointed as the first Walk Through the Bible instructor in the Province.
WALK Through the Bible Ministries will be holding a seminar on Saturday March 24 from 9.30am hosted by Lisburn Congregational Church.
The organisation has been teaching the big picture of the Bible in the UK for the last 25 years. Using visual and verbal means they make the whole story of the Old and New Testaments understandable and very memorable. This is done through teaching seminars led by a trained instructor with participation from the audience. It is a well attested fact that we forget most of what we hear yet this is what traditional Church teaching methods usually consist of. Walk Through the Bible uses a combination of words, visuals and actions, engaging both intellect and imagination, which helps each participant to enjoy the learning experience and so retain much more than if they were simply sitting listening to a lecture.
The organization, which had its origin in the USA in the 1970's, has had an independent branch in the UK since 1984 under the leadership of Cliff Keeys and his son Paul. There are many instructors spread across Great Britain as well as two in the Republic of Ireland, but none in Northern Ireland - until now that is. Steve Campbell from Coleraine has been appointed as the first Walk Through the Bible instructor in the Province. Ordained in the Church of Ireland, Steve first came across Walk Through several years ago at New Horizon. Although he did not take up the challenge at that time, the way he experienced the story of the whole Bible being taught stayed with him. He applied for training and went through it at the end of 2009 and is now looking forward to teaching Walk Through seminars throughout Northern Ireland.
Walk Through the Bible seminars last six hours and are available to all Churches or Christian organizations. You are promised an enjoyable experience and at the end of the day you will be able to: arrange the major people, places and events of the Old Testament in chronological order; locate the major geographical points and movements of the Old Testament; tie together the structure of the Old Testament books and read the Bible and pray daily with a new understanding and a rekindled desire.
