The 2003 Chairman of the Society, Finny O'Sullivan, with Mrs Joyce Best at the launch of the reprint of her successful book The Huguenots of Lisburn, the Story of the Lost Colony | Mr Fred Kee, founding member of Lisburn Historical Society and author of Lisburn Miscellany, which was first published in 1976. |
In 1997, Lisburn Historical Society published The Huguenots of Lisburn, the Story of the Lost Colony by Joyce Best, edited and compiled by Dr. Kathleen Rankin. Mrs Best has been a member of the Society for many years and has worked tirelessly on the topic of the Huguenots in the Lisburn area. The publication was sold out and a reprint was ordered in 2003.
The Society also undertook a reprint of Fred Kee's long out of print book, Lisburn Miscellany based on a collection of short articles which first appeared in the Ulster Star between 1970-74.
When first published, these articles evoked a nostalgic world and the subsequent passage of time has seen such changes in the fabric of Lisburn that these pieces provide valuable documentation of a past era. Not surprisingly, the reprint was immediately successful.
